IHS Harmony Enterprise 2022.1

Now available in a single or multi-user platform, Harmony™ from IHS Markit is a comprehensive engineering application for analyzing oil and gas well performance and evaluating reserves. Access a full suite of reservoir and production engineering tools in one interface. Create common corporate workflows that harness your organization’s technical expertise and share interpretations to determine the best asset development strategies.

Harmony Enterprise 2022.1 Release Notes

Transfer data from Kingdom

Using the newest functionality added to Spatial Explorer, you can transfer select reservoir properties from Kingdom’s Zone Attributes directly into Harmony Enterprise. You can add a Kingdom project to Spatial Explorer and select which Zone Attributes from which wells you want to transfer. The reservoir properties that can be transferred are net pay, porosity, and saturations (oil, gas, and water).

Choke calculator

With the new choke calculator, you can determine the minimum upstream pressure requirements to maintain line pressure, study the impact of varying choke diameter on critical flow rates, and solve for downstream temperature to predict icing on the flowline.

Note:   This tool is in active development, and we plan to incorporate it in both the tubing performance curve (TPC) and Flowing Gradient worksheets. We welcome feedback on this tool to guide future development.

Analytical wellhead model-based IPR

The Advanced Forecast worksheet has been enhanced to support the creation of model-based inflow performance relationship (IPR) curves using analytical wellhead forecasts. This feature is available for all supported wellbores and model types.

Optimize configurations

You can now create Optimize-specific wellbore configurations for use in Optimize worksheets. This avoids impacting non-Optimize calculations and analyses, including sandface pressure calculations or Reservoir models. Optimize configurations can be created and updated without having to leave an Optimize worksheet.

Numerical URM enhancements

To improve the usability of Harmony Reservoir’s newest interpretation method, the following enhancements have been added:

  • Data smoothing on Base Linear Model rates to reduce the impact of noise in sandface flowing pressures.
  • OFIP stems show a range of OFIPSRV for matching past the end of linear flow.
  • Auto Match to fit the OFIPSRV of the boundary-dominated flow curve.
  • Connection to the data filter used by other Harmony Reservoir analyses.
  • Calculate FCD’ from ΔPs.
  • Numerical unconventional reservoir module (URM) results are now available in Analytics Explorer and Spatial Explorer.

Sandface pressure calculation includes injection support

Gas and water injection rates can be honored when calculating sandface pressures. Whether injection rates are included is controlled by a project-level setting in the Options dialog box.

Final version to support *.harmony imports

This is the last release that supports import of *.harmony files (from Harmony 2014v1 – 2016v3). This capability will not be available in the 2022.2 release.

Windows 11 supported This version has been tested with and supports Windows 11.Minor improvements and resolved issues from Harmony Enterprise 2021.3GeneralThe Harmony Database Manager verifies that you have sufficient database privileges before running an upgrade, as otherwise a subset of the upgrade statements can fail. When extracting to an .hldb file, the Shared Settings found in the Options dialog box are now copied from the originating project. The initial size of the Bulk Editor dialog box has been increased so that all columns are visible by default.Sorting in the Bulk Editor persists after deleting or renaming analyses or worksheets. For plots or datasets copied to the Comparison Plot with mid-period plotting, the tails extending to the start and end of production persist.A warning is displayed when deleting worksheets and analyses. If the “Do not show again” option is selected, this setting persists when the application is restarted.Imports + ExportsWhen Enerdeq wells are combined by API, an option has been added to aggregate overlapping production periods across multiple production IDs, instead of the default behavior (to concatenate records and treat overlapping production as duplication).Fixed errors when importing low-frequency production over high-frequency data.ForecastAdded an option in the Bulk Edit Declines dialog box to shift the forecast start date to the end of each well’s historical production for the selected decline analyses.Calculated ratio forecasts — the analysis show / hide setting and line customizations (color and thickness) persist.

Reservoir

  • Permeability calculations in flowing material balance (FMB) — after estimating a well’s productivity index (PI) and selecting flow geometry (radial or linear), permeability is calculated. This option is only available for single-phase FMB.
  • Numerical models previously allowed multiple maximum rate constraints to be entered, but only one was honored. Models are now limited to one max rate constraint.
  • The abandonment rate or pressure constraint is now honored in numerical models when the forecast starts within historical production.
  • Fixed URM Typecurve plot scaling where the y-axis scale resulted in the data not being visible.
  • Fixed the numerical model history match, which was not completing when adsorption was enabled until the well was reopened.
  • The option “Enable Transient Boundary Diagnostic” on Agarwal Typecurves is now selected by default for new worksheets.
  • Fixed failing numerical model synthesis when custom tables were used for all property correlations.
  • Fixed a crash in Probabilistics that occurred if the regional decimal separator was set to comma (rather than a period).
  • The Results Viewer now includes condensate recovery factor values from multi-well numerical models.
  • Fixed the crash in numerical models when running automatic parameter estimation (APE) with xe or ye selected and xw / yw defaulted to half of these values.
  • Various improvements to numerical wellhead forecast calculations.

Optimize

  • Advanced Forecast — the Model Forecast now updates upon entering the Advanced Forecast worksheet, consistent with the other forecasts.
  • Model-based IPR curves are now stored while remaining in the Advanced Forecast worksheet; no unnecessary recalculation is required while remaining in the worksheet.
  • Switching from correlation-based to model-based IPR auto-calculates the IPR for the current forecast step.
  • In the Flowing Gradient worksheet, you can now toggle between Tubing and Annulus within the Details table for the “Both” flow path.
