What’s New in RMS 13.1?

The Release Notes document for RMS 13.1, provides a summary of the new features
and enhancements to the existing RMS functionality. We continue to put innovation
at the heart of our software to unleash the opportunities of work efficiency, and
better and faster decisions.
For more information about the RMS functionality, refer to the Help pages for RMS
and the Roxar API. You can access the Help from the RMS application by pressing the
F1 key.
Release Notes, RMS Help, and Roxar API documentation pages accessible from within
the RMS application, describe all the options available in RMS. The options that are
available, depend on your module licenses.

Key Benefits

  • Support for the Hierarchical Plurigaussian facies modeling plugin, which will be available with the Facies Modeling license. For further information contact support.
  • In Petrophysical Modeling:
    • Avoid introducing a bias from horizontal well data when defining trends by choosing which wells to use as input to the transformation sequence.
    • Added flexibility when defining the transformation sequence by allowing the Normal Score and Mean transformation to be automated per transformation.
    • Quickly calculate an estimate of the output distribution based on the transformation sequence for the properties being modeled, without having to run the entire model.
  • When defining the structural model, skip time-consuming visual computations for faster model iterations and QC.
  • Up to 50% reduction in run time for the Horizon Uncertainty Modeling job through improved handling of well data.
  • The latest version of the RMS-RESQML/Geolog connector, with added support for connection to ETP 1.2 servers, allows connectivity to the Open Subsurface Data Universe (OSDU) as well as improved grid compatibility with SKUA.
  • Extended Roxar API support provides access to RMS project data and jobs using the Python language.

Key Features

Hierarchical Plurigaussian facies modeling supportPetrophysical modeling:Choose wells for input to the transformation sequence independently of the wells chosen for conditioning.Mean and Normal Score transformation can be set to automated/not automated per transformation, independent of the setting for the sequence.See the expected output distribution for a property in the selected zone/facies when defining the model setup.Optionally skip creating a polygon model when building a structural model.Improved performance in Horizon Uncertainty Modeling when using well data, plus a new option to ensure the top zone is modeled in the output structure model.Improved QC workflows:Filter all Point Tables with a data object selector which also allows access to Collections.Filter Wells QA by Collections, addition of new tests.Filter Fault Statistics by Collections. The Region Attribute Tables are now available in the Uncertainty/Sensitivity Setup and Big Loop Variables.Specify perforations in local grids for enhanced accuracy around wells.Improved interoperability with SKUA-GOCAD™: Import repeat section grid/K-expanded flow simulation grids from SKUA-GOCAD using RESQML.The event model supports perforations in local grids for both non-segmented and segmented wells. Relevant keywords can be exported to the ECLIPSE simulator.Extended Roxar API support, for access to RMS project data and jobs using the Python language. Roxar API can also be used to create customized plug-ins. RMS 13.1 includes an updated Job API to support changes in the UI, multiple collection as input to jobs, support for Time/Depth Tables, read access to 2D Seismic, and Uncertainty Volume Tables.RMS-RESQML/Geolog Connector v1.7, including support for repeat section grids with stair-stepped faults from SKUA and ETP 1.2 support.RMS-RESQML/Geolog Connector v1.7, including support for repeat section grids with stair-stepped faults from SKUA and ETP 1.2 support.
